That first squash seems to have been a early one...nothing much else on the way though I think I can see a couple of teeny fruits forming on the same plant. I'll check them out next time I'm down - hopefully a bit more growth by then.Lou@RainbowChardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01435858511588433002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6665001536585846125.post-55247759558513354912017-06-15T09:11:38.216+01:002017-06-15T09:11:38.216+01:00Hi Margaret, argh sorry to hear you have aphid pro...Hi Margaret, argh sorry to hear you have aphid problems too. On a 'no-dig' Facebook group I follow it sounds like some people are having potato problems (low yield or earlies cropping later than usual ) poss due to weather, so I'm now quite pleased with mine in comparison! Hope yours taste good when you tip them out...it's hard to resist dong it sooner I bet.Lou@RainbowChardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01435858511588433002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6665001536585846125.post-85893948829219489152017-06-15T09:02:59.322+01:002017-06-15T09:02:59.322+01:00Hi sue, mmm yep I eat the squishier ones whilst I&...Hi sue, mmm yep I eat the squishier ones whilst I'm picking, they're usually very sweet. The flavour seems to be a lot better in the most recent harvest ( 2 kg on Tuesday)Lou@RainbowChardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01435858511588433002noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6665001536585846125.post-11145127676065062612017-06-14T13:04:07.848+01:002017-06-14T13:04:07.848+01:00Those strawberries and potatoes are lovely, and I ...Those strawberries and potatoes are lovely, and I think both surely taste best when homegrown. And the first squash is always a good sign, though like you say hopefully there will not be too many. I've been ...Those strawberries look delicious! I've been picking the flowers off of our newly planted strawberry plants so no berries for us this year, but I'm hoping that next year our patience will be rewarded :) I'm having a big issue with blackfly (black aphids here) on my broad beans too - they are much worse this year than I've ever seen before. I tried the soap spray but that didn't seem to do much (although I think it rained shortly thereafter, so that may have been why). Yesterday, I did the "spray them off with a stream of water bit" - will have to go out to see if that at least made a dent in the infestation.Margarethttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15949946977793864054noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6665001536585846125.post-66743418648432834292017-06-12T23:46:59.610+01:002017-06-12T23:46:59.610+01:00Beautiful potatoes and strawberries.
